Pop Team Epic được viết và minh họa bởi Bkub Okawa, trước đây được biết đến với Touhou Project dōjinshi. Anime

Một bản chuyển thể anime của bộ truyện đã được công bố vào ngày 2 tháng 4 năm 2017. Ban đầu nó được cho là chuyển thể của Hoshiiro Girldrop vào ngày Cá tháng Tư năm 2017. Anime có hoạt hình của Kamikaze Douga và sản xuất bởi King Records,[18] và được đạo diễn bởi Jun Aoki và Aoi Umeki.[19] Bộ phim được phát sóng trong 12 tập từ ngày 7 tháng 1 đến ngày 25 tháng 3 năm 2018, sau khi bị trì hoãn từ tháng 10 năm 2017 do "lỗi của King Records".[9][20] Một chương trình truyền hình đặc biệt được phát sóng vào ngày 1 tháng 4 năm 2019, bao gồm các tập 13 và 14.[21]

The opening theme for episodes 2-10 is "Pop Team Epic" (remixed as "Pop Team Epic (Rebroadcasting Mix)" for the rest of the series, except for the final two episodes, in Pop Team Epic Repeat) by Sumire Uesaka,[22] while the ending theme titled "Poppy Pappy Day" is sung by Popuko (Yui Makino/Kenji Akabane (ep 1-6), Hiromi Igarashi/Toshiki Masuda (ep 8–9, 11)) and Pipimi (Yui Watanabe/Shunsuke Takeuchi (ep 1-6), Rei Matsuzaki/Wataru Hatano (ep 8–9, 11)), with Shouta Aoi performing the theme for episode 12. The ending theme for episode 10 is "Jinsei" (人生, "Jinsei"? lit. life) also by the Igarashi/Matsuzaki and Masuda/Hatano duos. The opening theme for episode one, which opened with a Hoshiiro Girldrop segment, is "Twinkling Star" by Drop Stars (Yui Ogura, Inori Minase, and Uesaka).[23] Episode 12 used the classical music pieces Night on Bald Mountain and Dies Irae in its storyline. The opening theme for the first half of the special is "last sparkle" by Uesaka, while the second half uses the opening theme, "Pretty candle star" by Drop Stars (Ogura, Minase, and Uesaka) in the first part and parodied by Shunsuke Itakura and Tōru Adachi of Team AC (voicing as Korona Yuhi) in the second part. The insert song and ending theme for the first half are "Popuko ni Sauce" (ポプ子にソース, lit. "Sauce for Popuko"?) and "Fûsen Hikô" (風船飛行, lit. "Balloon Flight"?), respectively; both are sung by Popuko (Yuka Ozaki/Kent Ito) and Pipimi (Aya Uchida/Ryuichi Kijima). The insert song for the second half is "Bansaku neender", sung by the Ozaki/Uchida and Ito/Kijima duos, with Aoi singing his version of the ending theme "Fūsen Hikō" (風船飛行, lit. "Balloon Flight"?), as well as his own ending theme, "AOI Traveler."

The series was renewed for a second season on ngày 26 tháng 12 năm 2021. It is set to premiere in 2022.[24]

Sentai Filmworks simulcast the series on Hidive.[25] Crunchyroll simulcast the series worldwide outside of Asia.[26] Funimation simulcast the English-dubbed version in English-speaking territories as it aired;[27] Funimation also acquired the rights to release the anime on home video in North America.[28] Funimation also arranged the series to air on Adult Swim's Toonami programming block starting on ngày 1 tháng 7 năm 2018.[29] In Australia and New Zealand, the series simulcast on AnimeLab.[30] Aniplus Asia simulcast the series in Southeast Asia.[1] The series became available on Netflix in February 2020 in what was originally 11-minute episodes. It was replaced by the original half-hour format due to complaints from users.[31] A remixed rerun titled Pop Team Epic Repeat, which mixes up the voice actors from the original run, began airing from ngày 9 tháng 10 năm 2021 and is being simulcast by Crunchyroll.[32] It also features re-recorded versions of the AC-BU segments and Japanese dubs of the Japon Mignon segments. There are also visual differences in the Repeat version.
